Energy Consumer Protection Act of 2026

This bill gives the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission more power to go after people who cheat in energy markets. Specifically, it allows the commission to temporarily or permanently ban anyone from trading in electricity or natural gas markets if they manipulate prices or file false information about those markets. The bill updates existing laws — the Federal Power Act and the Natural Gas Act — to better protect consumers from this kind of market manipulation.
