FAFSA Verification Efficiency Act

Right now, the Department of Education works with the Social Security Administration to check a student's Social Security number when the student applies for federal financial aid. This bill expands that process so that the Department of Education must also verify the Social Security number and citizenship status of anyone who is required to provide information on the FAFSA form, not just the student. That includes people like the student's spouse, parents, or a parent's spouse who contribute information to the application.
