Fire Management Assistance Grants for Tribal Governments Act

This bill lets Indian tribal governments apply directly to FEMA for Fire Management Assistance Grants, which help with firefighting costs. Right now, only states can request these grants from FEMA, so tribal governments have to go through a state to get help. Under this bill, tribal governments could either apply on their own or still choose to go through a state if they prefer. FEMA would be required to update its rules within one year to put these changes into effect.
