CHOICE Act

This bill expands programs that give parents more choices about where their children go to school. It updates scholarship rules for students in Washington, D.C., allows the Department of Education to give grants to states so parents of children with disabilities can pick a public or private school, and lets states use federal special education money to help pay for private school costs. The Department of Defense would also have to run a five-year test program giving scholarships to children of military families living on military bases so they can attend the public or private school their parents choose. Finally, the bill requires the Department of Education to send certain salary and expense funds back to the Treasury.
