Forest Data Modernization Act of 2025

This bill tells the Forest Service to update and expand its program that collects information about forests across the country, including adding data about carbon stored in forests. It requires the program to update its plan within six months and every five years after that, covering things like how data is collected and how remote sensing technology is used. The program must also publish forest statistics every two years, continue certain surveys about timber products and woodland owners, and use a clear definition of "forest" when reporting data. Finally, the program must set up an office or online system to handle data requests from outside organizations and may charge fees for those requests.
