Rio San José and Rio Jemez Water Settlements Act of 2025

This bill settles long-standing water rights disputes in New Mexico involving four Native American Pueblos — Acoma, Laguna, Jemez, and Zia. It officially approves agreements between these Pueblos, the U.S. government, New Mexico, and others over who has rights to water in the Rio San José and Jemez River systems. The bill also creates and provides money for trust funds for each of the Pueblos involved. Finally, it spells out what water rights the Pueblos have and describes which legal claims are being dropped or kept as part of the deal.
