Navajo Nation Rio San José Stream System Water Rights Settlement Act of 2025

This bill settles water rights claims in New Mexico belonging to the Navajo Nation by officially approving a water rights agreement between the Navajo Nation, the state of New Mexico, and other parties regarding the Rio San José Stream System. It creates a trust fund with money set aside to carry out the terms of the settlement. The bill also spells out exactly what water rights the tribe has, describes which legal claims the tribe and the United States are giving up or keeping, and allows for additional service areas for a water supply project called the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project.
