Improving Flood and Agricultural Forecasts Act of 2025

This bill officially establishes the National Mesonet Program, which is a network of automated weather and soil monitoring stations run by NOAA that collects data to help track and forecast weather events like droughts, fires, and floods. The program must meet cost and quality standards, and NOAA is required to give at least 15% of the program's funding each year to state, tribal, private, and academic groups that want to build or improve monitoring equipment, with priority going to remote areas that lack weather stations. Groups that receive this funding must share their data with the program, and an advisory committee of experts must be set up to help guide decisions about what data is needed.
