COLLUDE Act

This bill changes the legal protections that social media companies and similar online services currently have against being sued over content posted by their users. Under this bill, if a company blocks or limits access to political speech because the government asked it to, the company would lose its legal protection — unless the government's request was for a legitimate law enforcement or national security reason. The bill also makes it harder for companies to get lawsuits thrown out early by requiring them to prove in court that they deserve the protection, rather than having lawsuits automatically dismissed.
