Air Traffic Control Workforce Development Act of 2025

What this bill does

AI plain-language summary

This bill makes changes to how air traffic controllers are trained and hired. It gives official legal backing to a college program where students can get air traffic control training that's equal to what the FAA Academy offers, allowing graduates to go straight to work at air traffic control facilities. It also creates grants for schools in this program, sets up funding through 2031 for training simulators at air traffic control facilities, and requires the Department of Transportation to create programs to help recruit and keep air traffic controllers. Additionally, the FAA must review its training programs and testing, support mental health services training for controllers, and report to Congress on a radar surveillance program.
