Purchased and Referred Care Improvement Act of 2025

This bill requires the Indian Health Service (IHS) to pay back patients within 30 days when they spend their own money on medical care that the IHS approved but sent them to a private provider to receive. Sometimes the IHS cannot provide certain services directly, so patients are referred to outside doctors, and this bill makes sure those patients get reimbursed quickly after submitting the right paperwork. The bill also requires the Department of Health and Human Services to update its manuals, contracts, and other official documents to reflect these new rules and to use the term "purchased/referred care" instead of the older term "contract health service."
