Eric’s Law

This bill, called Eric's Law, changes the rules for death penalty sentencing hearings. If a jury in a death penalty case cannot fully agree on a sentence and the government's lawyer requests it, the court must hold a new sentencing hearing with a new jury. If that second jury also cannot fully agree on a sentence, then the court is not allowed to give the death penalty.
