SCREEN Act

This bill requires websites that host content considered harmful to kids — such as sexual or obscene material — to use technology that checks users' ages and blocks minors from seeing that content. These websites must publicly explain how their age-verification process works and must apply the verification to users' IP addresses, including those using VPNs, unless the user is determined to be outside the United States. The websites also have to protect any personal information they collect during the verification process. The Federal Trade Commission would be responsible for auditing these websites, providing guidance, and making sure they follow the rules.
