Dangerous Viral Gain of Function Research Moratorium Act

This bill would stop federal research grant money from going to colleges, universities, or other research organizations that do a type of science called "gain-of-function research." Gain-of-function research involves changing the genes of certain dangerous viruses or other harmful agents, like coronavirus, to make them stronger or more able to spread or cause disease. The bill also covers research that could reasonably be expected to give these organisms new abilities that could threaten public health or national security.
