Protecting Rural Seniors’ Access to Care Act

This bill would block a federal rule that set new minimum staffing requirements for nursing homes that accept Medicare and Medicaid, including requiring a nurse to be on-site around the clock and a minimum number of nursing hours per resident each day. It would also block a part of the rule that required state Medicaid programs to report on how much they pay nursing home workers. In addition, the bill would create a new advisory panel on the nursing home workforce that would report to Congress each year on things like worker shortages and difficulties people in rural and underserved areas face when trying to access nursing homes.
