Keep Americans Safe Act

This bill would make it a crime to import, sell, make, transfer, or own large capacity ammunition feeding devices, which are parts that allow guns to hold more rounds of ammunition. There are some exceptions, including for law enforcement use, protecting nuclear materials, and retired law enforcement officers. People who already own one of these devices could keep it but would not be allowed to sell or give it to someone else. The bill also requires new devices to have a serial number and manufacture date, and it lets state and local governments use certain federal grant money to set up programs where people can turn in these devices for payment.
