Telework Reform Act of 2025

This bill sets new rules for how federal agencies handle telework, which is when employees work from somewhere other than their regular office. It requires agencies to limit telework agreements to one year at a time, review them at least once a year, and set up systems to make sure employees are only working from approved locations. The bill also lets agencies hire qualified veterans, military spouses, and spouses of law enforcement officers for full-time remote work positions without going through the usual competitive hiring process, with hiring for law enforcement spouses running as a seven-year trial program. Additionally, it requires the Office of Management and Budget to create guidelines for keeping information secure during telework, and it requires a study comparing how long it takes agencies to handle services for the public now versus how long it took in 2019.
