Water Conservation Rebate Tax Parity Act

Right now, if a public utility gives you money or a discount to help you save energy at home, you don't have to pay federal income tax on that benefit. This bill would extend that same tax-free treatment to rebates or subsidies you receive from utilities, stormwater management companies, or state and local governments for installing things that help conserve water, manage stormwater or flooding, or handle wastewater (like septic tanks) at your home. These changes would apply to subsidies received after 2021.
