Basin Fund Preservation Act

This bill requires the Bureau of Reclamation and the Western Area Power Administration to work together on an agreement that looks into how a 2024 government decision about managing Glen Canyon Dam is affecting the Upper Colorado River Basin Fund, which helps pay for water projects in the region. The agreement must include a plan to deal with any effects on the fund's financial obligations, look at how the decision impacts the dam's ability to produce electricity, and identify any effects on threatened or endangered species. The 2024 decision updated an earlier plan for managing the dam to deal with an invasive fish called smallmouth bass and to use new science about when to release large amounts of water to protect the endangered humpback chub.
