MATE Improvement Act

This bill changes the rules about the training that doctors and other health care providers must complete before they can prescribe certain controlled medications. It allows more organizations, like the American Academy of Family Physicians, to offer this required one-time training on substance use disorders. It also says that recent graduates of podiatric medicine schools and pharmacy schools don't need the extra training if they already learned about substance use disorders during their regular schooling. The changes apply as if they had been in effect since December 29, 2022.
