A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management relating to "Protection of Marine Archaeological Resources".

This joint resolution cancels a rule from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management that was published on September 3, 2024. That rule required companies doing oil and gas exploration or development on the ocean floor to submit a report identifying any archaeological resources, like remains of human life or activities at least 50 years old, in the area where they want to work. Before this rule, such a report was only needed when a regional director had reason to believe archaeological resources might be present. By nullifying the rule, this resolution would go back to the previous requirement.
