A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management relating to "Protection of Marine Archaeological Resources".

This resolution cancels a rule that required oil and gas companies to automatically include an archaeological report whenever they submitted plans to drill or explore on the ocean floor. An archaeological report looks for remains of human life or activities that are at least 50 years old. By canceling this rule, the resolution brings back older rules that only required such a report when a regional director had a specific reason to believe archaeological resources might be in the area.
