A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Homeland Security relating to "Increase of the Automatic Extension Period of Employment Authorization and Documentation for Certain Employment Authorization Document Renewal Applicants".

This resolution would cancel a rule from the Department of Homeland Security that was published in December 2024. That rule permanently extended the time that certain noncitizens can keep using their expiring work permits while waiting for their renewal to be processed, increasing it from 180 days to 540 days. If this resolution passes, that rule would be wiped out, and the longer extension period would no longer be in effect.
