A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States requiring Members of Congress to forfeit their compensation during Government shutdowns.

This proposal would change the Constitution so that members of Congress would lose their pay during a government shutdown. A government shutdown happens when Congress fails to pass the spending bills needed to keep federal agencies and departments running. Any pay that members of Congress lose during a shutdown would go to the U.S. Treasury to help pay down the national debt.
