Data Science and Literacy Act of 2026

This bill creates a program where the Department of Education gives grants to schools, tribal schools, colleges, and similar groups to help students learn about data science, statistics, and how to understand and use data. Within five years of the first grant, a federal research group must study whether the program is actually helping students get better access to data science education. The bill also requires the government to collect and report information on how many science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) teachers are working in middle and high schools in each state.
