A–PLUS Act

The A-PLUS Act tells the Department of Agriculture to change its rules about who can own or work with livestock market agencies. Under the new rules, smaller meat processing companies could own part of, provide money to, or help run businesses that sell livestock for farmers. This only applies to companies that process fewer than 2,000 cattle or sheep per day or fewer than 10,000 hogs per day. The bill also requires market agencies to tell people when they have financial ties to meat processing companies.
