Rural Veterans Transportation to Care Act

This bill makes a Department of Veterans Affairs program permanent that gives grants to help veterans get transportation to medical appointments. The program currently helps veterans in highly rural areas, but this bill would expand it to also help veterans in regular rural areas. The bill allows the VA to give these grants to county veterans service groups and tribal organizations. It increases the maximum grant amount to $60,000, or up to $80,000 if the grant recipient needs to buy a vehicle that meets disability access requirements. The bill uses the same definitions for rural and highly rural areas that the Department of Agriculture uses in its coding system.
