SHOPP Act of 2025

This bill expands a USDA program that helps low-income people buy more fruits and vegetables by including fresh frozen fruits and vegetables, not just fresh ones. The program gives grants to projects that encourage people who receive SNAP (food stamps) to buy produce, and the bill says priority should be given to projects that make these benefits available year-round by offering frozen options. It also updates a related program that gives people prescriptions for fruits and vegetables to now cover fresh frozen fruits, vegetables, and legumes, whereas before it only covered fresh produce.
