FARMLAND Act of 2025

This bill gives the federal government more power to review and oversee when foreign companies or people want to buy U.S. farmland or land used for energy and technology materials. It requires a government committee called CFIUS to review foreign land purchases over $5 million or 320 acres and adds the Agriculture Secretary and FDA Commissioner to this committee. The bill also creates a new government position to investigate violations of existing foreign agricultural investment laws and to look into efforts to steal U.S. agricultural technology. Foreign landowners would be blocked from participating in certain farm programs, and the government would create a database tracking all agricultural land owned by foreign people or companies.
