Caring for Survivors Act of 2025

This bill increases the monthly payments that the Department of Veterans Affairs makes to surviving spouses of certain veterans. These payments, called dependency and indemnity compensation, go to survivors of veterans who died from service-connected conditions, service members killed while on duty, or veterans who were totally disabled by service-connected disabilities for a certain time period. The bill also reduces from 10 years to 5 years the time period that veterans must have been totally disabled for their survivors to qualify for benefits, and sets specific payment amounts for survivors of veterans who were disabled for less than 10 years before death.
