What this bill does

AI plain-language summary

This bill would give U.S. Armed Forces members serving in Kenya, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Chad the same tax benefits that members get when serving in combat zones. These tax benefits include not having to pay income tax on their military pay, getting extra time to file tax returns and pay taxes, and not paying federal phone taxes on calls made from these areas. The bill would only apply to these four countries when U.S. military members there are receiving special danger pay.
