Maintaining and Enhancing Hydroelectricity and River Restoration Act

This bill creates a new tax credit worth 30% of the cost for certain hydropower improvement projects. These improvements include adding fish passages at dams, improving water quality, upgrading dams for safety, improving public access to waterways, removing old river obstructions, or building new remote dams. Projects must get written approval from federal or state officials before January 2032. Some entities can receive the tax credit as a cash refund, and the credit can be sold to other parties.
