Pre-Pilot Pathway Act

This bill tells the Department of Transportation to create an apprenticeship program with flight schools to train more commercial pilots. Each participating flight school can choose up to eight students per year to be apprentices, though the Department of Transportation can allow more. The Department must also find ways to encourage pilots, including retired ones, to become flight instructors and mentors at these schools. The Department will review the program each year to see how well it works at addressing pilot shortages.
