Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act

This bill would make it a federal crime to perform an abortion on an unborn child who has Down syndrome. A person who violates this law could face a fine, up to five years in prison, or both. The bill also allows for civil lawsuits seeking money damages or court orders to stop such actions. Women who receive these abortions cannot be prosecuted or sued under this law.
