COBALT Supply Chain Act

This bill would block imports of certain goods containing cobalt that was refined in China, based on the assumption that forced labor or child labor was involved in making them. To bring these goods into the United States, importers would need to provide strong evidence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection that the goods do not contain cobalt refined in China. The bill also requires the President to confirm each year that vehicles bought by the federal government do not contain parts made or mined using child labor or forced labor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, though this rule does not apply to vehicles purchased by the Department of Defense. Additionally, a special task force would need to report to Congress on how to prevent these goods from entering the country and provide regular updates.
