Stop Disaster Price Gouging Act

This bill makes it illegal for businesses to raise prices by more than 10% on essential items like food, emergency supplies, transportation, hotel rooms, and rental housing for 30 days after a major disaster or emergency is declared by the president. For repair and rebuilding services, this rule lasts 180 days. The Federal Trade Commission would be in charge of enforcing these rules, and businesses that break them could face financial penalties. States and regular people are also allowed to take legal action against businesses that violate the law.
