GUARD Act

This bill lets state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies use money from certain federal grant programs to investigate financial fraud, including scams targeting older people and a type of scam called "pig butchering," where criminals slowly trick someone into putting more and more money into a fake investment. The bill also allows federal law enforcement to help state, local, and tribal agencies use special tools to trace cryptocurrency transactions. Additionally, the bill requires a government agency called the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network to write reports on efforts to fight these kinds of fraud and scams, including trends in how often they happen and suggestions for new laws that could help.
