Complete Streets Act of 2025

This bill sets up a system to make roads safer and more accessible for everyone, including people who walk, bike, use wheelchairs, drive cars, or take public transit. It requires each state to create a grant program using some of its federal highway money, which local governments, tribal governments, planning organizations, and nonprofits can apply for to help redesign and build these kinds of roads. The Department of Transportation would create new design standards that include things like protected bike lanes, sidewalks, crosswalks, and better lighting, and states and planning organizations would have to follow these standards. The bill also requires updates to accessibility standards to better serve people with cognitive disabilities and those who speak different languages.
