Fire Weather Development Act of 2025

This bill sets up new programs to help the country better predict and respond to wildfires. It requires the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to work with federal, state, and local agencies to improve wildfire forecasting, fire weather assessments, and how quickly warnings reach local officials. The bill also creates new committees to coordinate wildfire forecasting across government agencies, allows the use of drones to monitor fire weather, and requires the National Institute of Standards and Technology to publish recommendations for improving how first responders and fire managers communicate with each other during wildfires. Additionally, it removes certain pay limits for National Weather Service meteorologists who work during emergency wildfire situations.
