Break the Cycle of Violence Act

This bill creates several new grant programs and offices within the federal government to help reduce violence in communities that experience high levels of homicides and violence. The Department of Health and Human Services would give out grants to support community violence prevention efforts and would set up a new office, an advisory committee, and a national center focused on violence intervention, research, and training. The Department of Labor would also provide grants for job training programs in communities heavily affected by gun violence, specifically to help young people ages 16 to 24 find jobs in fields that are hiring.
