Prevent Illegal Gun Sales Act

This bill gives the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) more power over businesses and people who are licensed to sell, import, or make guns. It lets the ATF deny a gun dealer's license if the applicant could be a danger to public safety, inspect licensed dealers up to three times a year instead of just once, and suspend licenses or fine dealers who break the law. The bill also requires dealers to count their inventory if they illegally transfer a gun or if 10 or more crime-linked guns are traced back to them. Finally, it raises the maximum prison sentence from one year to five years for licensed dealers or collectors who knowingly put false information in their required records.
