Disability Access to Transportation Act

This bill creates programs to improve transportation access for people with disabilities. The Department of Transportation must start a pilot program to improve paratransit services (small buses and vans for elderly and disabled people) to reduce long wait times that make it hard for people to complete important tasks. The Department of Justice must create enforceable standards for new pedestrian facilities like shared paths to make sure they follow disability access guidelines. The bill also requires the Department of Transportation to let people file disability discrimination complaints by phone, mail, or online, and requires transit providers to post information about how to file complaints. The Department of Transportation must publish yearly reports on these complaints and create a data program to help states and planning groups improve transportation planning for accessibility.
