Treat and Reduce Obesity Act of 2025

This bill changes Medicare rules to cover more types of obesity treatment. Right now, Medicare only pays for intensive behavioral therapy for obesity if it comes from a primary care doctor. The bill would let Medicare also cover this therapy when provided by other types of doctors or by health care providers like physician assistants and nurse practitioners, as long as a doctor refers the patient. The bill would also let Medicare's prescription drug program cover weight loss medications for people who are overweight or obese.
