Credit Access and Inclusion Act of 2026

This bill allows information about on-time payments for things like rent, utilities, and phone service to be reported to credit agencies, which could help people build a credit history. However, companies can only report payment-related information, not details about how much of a service someone uses. If a person has set up a payment plan with an energy company and is keeping up with it, the company cannot report their balance as late. The bill also requires a government agency to study how this kind of reporting affects consumers.
