Medically Tailored Home-Delivered Meals Program Pilot Act

This bill would require the government agency that runs Medicare to create a temporary program where certain Medicare patients with diseases affected by diet, like kidney disease, could get specially designed meals delivered to their homes to help keep them from being sent back to the hospital. At least 40 hospitals would be chosen to take part in the six-year program, and doctors or nutrition professionals at those hospitals would check patients when they leave the hospital, and every 12 weeks after, to see if they qualify. To be eligible, patients would need to have a diet-related disease, live at home, not be in extended care or hospice, and have difficulty with at least two daily living activities like bathing or dressing.
