Northern Border Security Enhancement and Review Act

This bill requires the Department of Homeland Security to study threats along the northern U.S. border every two years, looking at risks from terrorism and criminal activity, what improvements are needed, and whether screening travelers before they arrive at border crossings could help keep terrorists out. After each study, DHS must update its strategy for the northern border and give a classified briefing to Congress, or let Congress know if no changes are needed. The bill also requires the Air and Marine Operations division of Customs and Border Protection to create ways to measure how well it is doing at securing the areas between official border crossings by air and sea.
