READ AI Models Act

This bill asks the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to create a flexible template that can be used to document key details about artificial intelligence models, like the model's name, who developed it, and what data was used to train it. NIST would run a pilot program to build this template, making it customizable so different users can fill out the sections that fit their needs. NIST must work with businesses, universities, and international standards groups, and must let the public weigh in on a draft before publishing the final version. Within a year of starting the pilot program, NIST has to publish the finished template and guidelines and report back to Congress on how the program went.
