I&A Mission Reorientation Act of 2026

This bill says that the intelligence office within the Department of Homeland Security must treat sharing information with state, local, tribal, and territorial governments and private businesses as just as important as working with other federal intelligence agencies. The office must share information back and forth with these partners, use intelligence teams stationed in the field to spot threats, and keep strong relationships with fusion centers, which are partnerships between different levels of government that work together to detect and respond to crime and terrorism. The bill also says the office's work supporting DHS leadership should not get in the way of its responsibilities to these outside partners, and the office must report to Congress on how it is carrying out these changes.
