Indian Health Service Emergency Claims Parity Act

This bill gives people who receive emergency medical care from a provider outside the Indian Health Service (IHS) more time to report that care to the program that helps pay for it, called the Purchased/Referred Care (PRC) program. Right now, patients or their providers must notify the PRC program within 72 hours of emergency treatment, but this bill would extend that deadline to at least 15 days. Elderly and disabled individuals are not affected by this change because they already have a 30-day window to report emergency services.
