This bill requires a government science agency called NIST to set up task forces that would work on creating standards and guidelines for identifying content — like audio, video, or text — that was made or significantly changed using artificial intelligence. These task forces would focus on things like labeling AI-generated content, adding digital watermarks or fingerprints, and tracking where digital content originally came from. The task forces would also look into giving guidance to online platforms on how to store and show this tracking information while still protecting people's privacy. The task forces would need to share their recommendations with NIST and regularly report to Congress on what they're doing.
