Student Protection and University Accountability Act

This bill requires colleges and universities that receive federal student aid to set up clear processes for investigating complaints about discrimination based on race, color, or national origin. Schools must appoint at least one coordinator to handle these complaints, keep records, and make sure students and families know about these procedures. If a school fails to follow these rules for two years in a row, it could lose access to federal student aid programs for at least two years, though it can regain eligibility by showing it has fixed the problems. The bill also requires the Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights to regularly update Congress on the complaints it receives and how it is handling investigations.
